Course Objectives:

This course is designed to introduce students the scope and basic principles of a variety of dental disorders and their clinical application in order to diagnose and treat some popular diseases involved oral cavity on a biological basis, with confidence, and with a high percentage of success. The course includes practical subdisciplines such as oral and maxillofacial anatomical physiology, cariology and endodontology, periodontal diseases, oral mucosal diseases, oral and maxillofacial trauma, infections and tumors, temporomandibular joint diseases and oral health care. Through carefully selected lectures and clinical teaching, the department not only provides comprehensive dental knowledge in a wide array of public health topics, but serves as a role model for future doctors in order to bring quality services and preventive measures in need of dental care.

Week 3            Oral mucosal diseases


Week 4            Cariology and Endodontology(Part I)


Week 5         Cariology and Endodontology(Part II)

Week 7        Oral and maxillofacial trauma, infections; temporomandibular joint diseases


Week 8        Oral and maxillofacial tumors


Course Requirements:

Full attendance to the lectures and clinical teaching are highly recommended and valued. The course will involve the student as a whole person in the classroom, allow for genuine response and encourage student to offer their individual interpretation instead of looking to the instructor’s confirmation. Discussions will be conducted through group work at clinical teaching, and a trial be done each time. Students are encouraged to do extensive reading and research related to this course and feedbacks are always welcomed.
