教学目的

At the   completion of the course it is expected that students will be able to:

1.   Think and speak properly in a variety of communicational situations

-   Retelling and summarizing

-   Stating and discussing

-   Basic public speaking and debating

2.   Conduct basic cross-cultural communication

-   Having confidence and skills for daily conversations

-   Developing a sensitivity to the appropriate use of English

- Obtaining college-level   speaking skills (e.g. conduct discussions on a given theme; give short talks   on familiar topics with clear articulation and correct pronunciation)

通过课程学习，学生将具有：

1. 基本的英语语言表达与思辨能力

- 复述与总结

- 陈述与讨论

- 初步的演讲和辩论

2. 基本的跨文化沟通能力

- 日常交流会话的信心与技巧

- 对英语得体使用的敏感度

基本内容简介

Practical Oral English Communication is an elementary-level   course in the spoken English training program of Fudan University. This   course aims at improving the students’ ability to use English for daily and   academic communications. It is an output-driven course, and applies   task-based instructions in class. The course is designed according to the   three forms of communication: interpersonal communication (making   conversations), group communication (speaking to/within groups), and   communication with an audience (presentation, speech and debate). The   instructor will introduce communication skills related to all three forms of   communication step by step, and provide a variety of opportunities for the   students to accomplish both pedagogical tasks and real world tasks in an   interactional way. By accomplishing the tasks, students are expected to   enhance their communicative confidence and competence.

实用交际英语口语是复旦大学英语口头表达能力培养系列课程中的基础课程，目的在于培养学生在日常生活和学习中的口语交际和语用能力。本课程采用任务教学法，以输出为驱动，以授课、双人会话、小组话题讨论、公众演讲、辩论等形式进行教学，同时，设计多种不同场合的英语交际活动形式，尽可能多地让学生接触到真实的语言环境，激励学生参与多样的语言活动。课堂训练内容注重真实、互动，训练方法由易入难，循序渐进。本课程为学生提供真实的语言视频资料和文字阅读材料，保证每周约1000单词阅读量、每学期约1200单词输入量。通过本课程的学习，学生能在今后的学习、工作和生活中用英语比较流利、得体地进行日常会话、小组交流和初步的公众演说。

基本要求:

Students are expected to have an input of reading (1000 words) and   listening (20 minutes) per week, and stay active in class interactions.

学生应保持每周1000单词的阅读和20分钟的视听输入量，并在课堂上活跃参加各类口语交际活动。

The instructor distributes reading and listening materials via   e-learning website, assigns communication tasks before each session. Students   get prepared and present their work in class. The work gets reviewed by the   instructor and fellow students jointly.

教师在课前通过elearning课程站点发布阅读和视听材料，并布置口语交际任务。学生在课前完成阅读和视听，并在课堂展示所预习的交际任务。课堂表现由教师和同班学生联合评价。

WEEK 5: Discussing “Vocational education becoming a better   choice.” Using rubrics to evaluate group member’s performance;

第五周：小组讨论：“职业技术教育变成更佳选择了吗？”使用量表为小组成员打分；

WEEK 6: Discussing “Animal Performance: shows, abuse, history,   legislation, ethics, alternatives”. Using rubrics to evaluate group member’s   performance;

第六周：小组讨论：“动物表演：表演、虐待、历史、立法、伦理及替代”。使用量表为小组成员打分；

WEEK 7: Mid-term Group Presentation;

第七周：期中分组展示；

WEEK 8: Mid-term Group Presentation;

第八周：期中分组展示；

WEEK 9: Debating whether use of smart phones should be banned in   university classrooms during teaching hours;

第九周：辩论：大学是否应在上课期间禁止学生使用手机；

WEEK 10: Debating whether teaching buildings in universities   should be closed to the public;

第十周：辩论：大学教学楼是否应该向公众关闭；

WEEK 11: Sharing video clips of “a public speech worth sharing”;

第十一周：分享一则值得分享的演讲；

WEEK 12: Public speech making: commencement speech at Fudan   University in the year 2048;

第十二周：公众演讲：2048年的复旦大学毕业典礼嘉宾演讲；

WEEK 13: Public speech making: fund-raising for a charity project;

第十三周：公众演讲：慈善捐款动员演讲；

WEEK 14: Improvising speeches on youth and stress;

第十四周：即兴演讲：青年与压力；

WEEK 15: Improvising speeches on body language and emotional   quotient.

第十五周：即兴演讲：身体语言与情商；

WEEK 16: Q&A;

第十六周：答疑；

WEEK 17: Final exam.

第十七周：期末考试
