Before his appointment at Nova Southeast University, Dr. Miller served as a founding member of the Couples and Family Therapy Program in the Department of Counseling Psychology, University of Oregon, College of Education.  During his time at the University of Oregon he also served as Program Director and Program Clinical Director (2000-2010).  Under his leadership the program was awarded national accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), the first program in the state to earn this national standing.  He is a former Fulbright Senior Research Scholar with the US State Departments Counsel for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) (2009-2010) where he conducted a year-long research project in collaboration with Beijing Normal University. Dr. Miller has served as Research Associate with the Mental Research Institute (MRI), one of the most prestigious institutes in his field (2000-2005).  Over the past decade, Dr. Miller has been invited to many famous universities in China and Southeast Asia for academic lectures including Fudan University, Beijing Normal University, Peking University, Fuzhou University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shaanxi Normal University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and the Royal University of Phnom Penh and the University (RUPP).
