Course objectives: This course aims to enable students to master how to use mainstream economics theory in their study of environmental issues. The courses extracts basic thories and normmative analysis methods from mainstream schools of economics, welfare economics, institutional economics, development economics, land and resources economics. Students are required to master and apply it to the environmental tax, clear property right and producing other environmental policy. |
Course Content: The first part : the basics of Environmental EconomicsIntroduction. Introduction to environmental economics research object, research contents, research methods; environmental economics and economics, resource economics, ecology and other disciplines; briefly introduced each representative of the environment problem and countermeasure. Marketfalure and related problems. This section attempts to attribute items from the analysis of the causes of environmental problems. The main contents include the public goods, externality. The market mechanism to solve the environmental problems . This part focuses on how to use the market approachs in solving the environmental problem. The issues involved include the Coase theorem, Pigou tax. Environmental management policy brief introduction. A brief introduction to the theoretical basis of environmental management policy. To guide students how to practice in environmental policy analysis and evaluation. The second part: Complementary knowledge in Economics As the students almost hanve no ideas about economics before their study in environmental economics,this course makes a brief dintrduction to economic knowledge related with theenvironmental economics. The knowledge involved focused on microcosmic economics part. |
