All the assigned readings are articles and book chapters. Students are required to read them before class. Recommended readings are not required for reading, and they will not be covered in final exam. But the recommended readings with an asterisk can be covered in the instructor’s lecture and are strongly recommended for students to read before or after class. In class, the instructor gives lectures on the major topics regarding politics and economy of the Asia-Pacific region, and students are expected to have thoughtful discussion based on the lectures and readings. To provide incentive for students to fulfill the reading tasks, 3 to 4 unannounced quizzes will be given during the semester.
