Grading:
Class Participation 10% (25 pts)
Completion of Assignments 20% (50 pts)
Mid term exam 20% (50 pts)
Final Exam 50% (125 pts)

Class Participation:
There will be short in-class quizzes, mini-papers, questions about the topics studied and/or other exercises each time class meets, which altogether account for 15 points. The rest 10 points will be awarded based on the involvement in class.
Homework:
There will be 4 homework assignments throughout the semester, each of which is worth 50 points. They will be comprised of multiple choices and numerical problems. The purpose of homework is to get practices so that to better prepare for the tests. Students are encouraged to work in groups, but will required to write up their own answers. All assignments are due at the beginning of the class. Students must be sure to staple the pages together before hand it in. Late homework will be accepted with a 10-point penalty by 5 p.m. on the due date, beyond which there will be a penalty of 20 points for each additional day.
Tests:
The tests will be assigned demanding that notes and books will not be used. The mid term exam and final exam will consist of questions and problems, and will account respectively for 50 points and 125 points.
Make-Up Tests:
Make-up tests will be allowed, but only as oral examinations.
