Dr. Yong Jiang is an associate Professor and staff member of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Fudan University. He is now the director of the Section for theoretical and applied Linguistics.

He used to teach English in SISU in Chongqing City and now is teaching Chinese language, linguistics, and Chinese culture in Fudan University. He did his PhD in the Department of English Language and Literature of Fudan University (2001). From 2001 until 2003 he did his postdoctoral research in the Department of Chinese of Fudan University. Until 2013, he supervised 20 postgraduate students on the projects of Chinese rhetoric, semantics, and pragmatics. He was a visiting professor to strengthen the Chinese Language and Cultural Studies programs at Virginia Commonwealth University (August 2006 – July 2007), and also a visiting professor at Hankuk University of Korea (February 2011 – February 2012).

He worked on topics in rhetoric, semantics, and pragmatics. More recently he worked on the national funded human science research project called ‘A Space Mapping Theory of Negative Polarity Items’ and on the China Education Ministration funded research project called ‘An Information Theoretical Account of Polarity Items’. He has published more than 50 linguistic papers on both English and Chinese in the key journals in China.
