Zhongqi PAN

ProfessorSchool of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University


Dr. Zhongqi PAN is Professor of International Relations at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University, where he received his Ph.D. in international relations in 1999. He teaches international politics at both undergraduate and graduate levels and in both Chinese and English. 


His focus of research includes international relations theory, China and international system, China’s foreign policy and strategy, China-US and China-EU relations, etc. He is author of A Theoretical Interpretation of International Politics (Shanghai: Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2015); From Following the Shi to Shaping the Shi: China’s International Orientation andStrategy (Shanghai: Fudan University Press, 2012); The Logic to Live with the Hegemony: American Strategies and China-US SecurityRelations in the Post-Cold War Period (Shanghai: Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2012); World Order: Structure, Mechanisms, and Models (Shanghai: Shanghai Publishing House, 2004). He is editor of Conceptual Gaps in China-EU Relations: Global Governance, Human Rights and Strategic Partnerships (Basingstoke, U.K.: Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), Chinas International Responsibility and Strategy (Shanghai: Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2008) andMultilateral Governance and International Order (Shanghai: Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2006). He has published many articles both in Chinese and in English at various academic periodicals. He was seconded by China’s Foreign Ministry as a First Secretary at Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Communities in 2008-9. He was a research fellow at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies in 2000-2005. He was a Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar to University of California, San Diego (2012-13), visiting scholar to Lund University (2006), the Fairbank Center at Harvard University (2004), the Henry Stimson Center (2001), and University of Tokyo (1999-2000).
